This page will be updated with information about the shopping centre as it becomes available.
The attached images show the rapid progress of construction of the supermarket building.
The first image is dated 22 April showing the overall site preparation.
The second and third images were taken on 3 May when wall panels arrived on site and were stood up in position.
The final image from 25 May shows the prefabricated steel roof supporting structure being assembled.
The attached plan shows the Town Centre buildings as well as location of accesses and parking spaces. This plan has come from the approved Resource Consent.
Construction progress is now very apparent with precast concrete wall panels having been lifted into place.
The contract for the construction of the New World supermarket and adjacent buildings has been awarded to Armstrong Downes. Site excavation carried out under an earlier contract has formed a very large building platform. Construction is underway, with the programme for the completion of these buildings by the end of the year. Final drawings are being completed for the remainder of the shops. As yet there is no confirmation of what shops will be included in the Town Centre.
The attached images of the completed shopping centre buildings were recently supplied by Guy Callender, the developer.
Mr Callender supplied the following update:
The initial cut and fill work has been completed, helped by the dry weather.
After that there will still be some excavation and trucking away of material which could take approx 3-4 more weeks.
We are hoping construction to start late March/ early April and expect to build it all at the same time at this stage. I would expect it to be complete this time next year.
