The AGM of the Churton Park Community Association, on 15 March was attended by 56 people. Our keynote speaker this year was Wellington Mayor Justin Lester, who described some key opportunities and challenges that influences the Council’s work programmes.

The Committee

A key function of the AGM is for residents who are financial members of the CPCA to elect our Committee for the year ahead. The elections resulted in a larger committee that offers both growth and continuity in our work. The existing President and members were re-elected and joined by three new members, who offer valuable skills and energy:

Channa Ranasinghe, who played a key role in engaging the participation of the Sri Lankan community in our recent Neighbours Day Multicultural Fair.

Ivan Burton and Joanne Gresham, who both have young families and so bolster those perspectives in the Committee’s work.

Richard Whinam CA, was re-elected as the Association’s Auditor for 2017.

The Committee’s first meeting, on 5 April elected the following officers:

Vice President John Morrison

Honorary Secretary Avinash Shrivastava

Honorary Treasurer Elaine Scoble.
