Community input sought following bus meeting

The public meeting on 6 May organised by the Association was well attended (upwards of 70 people) with a successful outcome for the community.

Greater Wellington Regional Council staff explained their position. They outlined the “spine” concept which will run from Johnsonville to Island Bay. They made it quite clear that the routes north of Johnsonville set out in the Plan document are indicative only.

GWRC are now seeking suggestions from the community as to the routes the buses could run, both to serve existing areas and to provide for the rapid growth in the north of Churton Park. These buses will travel from Churton Park to Island Bay. It became clear at the meeting that two routes will be needed to serve the suburb adequately.

GWRC prepared a map of the district that has questions printed on the back that can be used to mark up your suggestions. These maps were given out at the meeting. The map is of A3 size and not suitable for posting here as the detail would be too small. However, full-size copies of the map are available from the Community Centre. (See below)

You are strongly encouraged to answer the questions and mark up your thoughts, and send the result to GWRC by Freepost to reach them by no later than the end of May.

Please note GWRC is seeking e-mail addresses for those who want to receive feedback.

Regional Council have advised they will analyse all submissions and come back to CPCA with their updated views. It is possible CPCA will arrange another public meeting when this response becomes available.

In the meantime it will be useful to the Association if you can let them know what your thoughts and suggestions are. Contact details are on this site.

Additional information

The plan has been scanned in two pieces which can each be printed on an A4 printer and then overlapped and taped together. These are CP Map North and CP Map South.

The list of Things to Consider and Key Questions from the back of the map are also attached.
